Priscy's Cloud Biscuits

Priscy wanted to make some biscuits so I dug out Mom's cloud biscuit recipe and left her to it. Well, they ended up a little different but still as amazing as ever! I thought about just putting the changes as a comment on the other one, but figured this would be easier to find, plus I took pictures -none of them turned out that great, but at least you can see them! =)
1 c flour
1 c whole wheat flour
4 t baking powder
1/2 t salt (heaping)
1 T sugar
1/2 c butter
2/3 c milk
1 egg

Mix dry ingredients. Cut fat in until mixture is course crumbs. Combine egg and milk, add to flour, stir until just combined. Knead lightly 5 or so times to form a ball - I kneaded in a little bit more of the white flour during this step as it was very soft. Roll on floured surface, to 3/4 inch thick. Cut and bake at 450 degrees for 10-12 minutes. Serve. They made amazing ham-egg-cheese sandwiches and were also amazing plain or with honey.

Priscy read the post and was distressed that I didn't mention the reason she changed the recipe. She says it is because she is trying to help her family be "healthy and stay away from that evil white flour." =)

Maybe we'll give this variation a try tonight! We need to work more WW into our lives. I should have recovered from WW overdose in the last 15 years, right? Thanks girls.

I understand completely Becky! I'm the same way =P. I would definitely recommend not leaving the salt out...=P. I am such a ditz in the kitchen these days! Honestly! I'm not sure where I left my head! I forgot a whole cup of sugar in the peanut butter filled brownies, left the salt out of the biscuits, and didn't put any shortening in my poor tortillas!!! I've never been that stupid with cooking before now! At least not all at once anyway =P.

My goodness! Is everyone offering you a "break from cooking"? : ) We all have those days I guess! Just don't turn your day into a year, OK? I assume this was not all one day's cooking. You didn't repeat the "low fat tortillas" experiment did you? ; ) Yep, I'm laughing!
I'll make a mental note: Do not forget the salt. (Now I probably will.) I forget the salt in the bread regularly. (A couple times a year.) I have learned that when the dough opens the bread machine and crawls out onto the floor, I forgot the salt again. Blech!

Hahaha, don't feel badly Anna! I haven't done anything whacky myself lately, but Becky did leave the sugar out of her cupcakes awhile ago! Heehee, yes Becky, I'm telling on you! Actually, they were still very good. It made it so that they weren't overwhelmingly sweet like cake sometimes is with frosting. Those biscuits look really good in that picture...mmmmmm, I'm not even a huge biscuit fan!

Haha, wow Anna!! :)

And sugarless cupcakes?? That's as bad as oatmeal-less oatmeal cookies! :) Thanks for helping me smile on a grouchy day, gals!

Oh yeah. Heh heh! The "spaghetti and meatball" cupcakes the girls and I made for April Fools day.
Fitting, huh? I wondered why the were so ugly-pale when they came out of the oven. : ) When I was eating one (you didn't exactly want to eat more than 1) I kept thinking "this tastes kind of baking powdery, what did Amanda do? It reminds me of a muffin or cornbread, or...OH!!! THE SUGAR!!!"
Do cupcakes count as health food if you leave the sugar out?
But yeah, Rae is right. They weren't bad because they had frosting and strawberry sauce ("tomato sauce", you know?) AND peanut butter ball "meatballs" on top.
Kristina was smart- she snuck upstairs while we were watching Daniel Boone and ate as many "meatballs" as she could. SHE made them (single handedly except for dipping them!), after all.
OK, I have my kitchen moments too. I probably cook/bake more than the rest of you, so I probably have more than you!

You will be happy to hear that I successfully completed a batch of these without forgetting ANYTHING. I was most impressed with myself and decided that I would start baking again. =)
