Matthew's family food for week 1/7- 1/21

Ok I like Becky have a bit of explaining to do. We often do not plan meals for times when Matthew is on for more than twelve hour shifts. Those are easy throw together leftover or kid food nights. I normally am not as diverse as what this list is..because I have a confession, I became upset with Matthew when we were visiting some friends and he claimed that he missed them at our small group because she always brought fun and interesting dishes and that I didn't make new things very often. SO, in my over reaction as a woman that just had a baby (I am going to claim this for a few more months haha!) I put nothing normal on the menu for two whole weeks! Yes this has caused me much grief because a few times I have had new recipes that I have zero idea of how much prep time each dish will take and how to consolidate steps to make it more efficient. Guess that taught him, right LOL!
One last thing before I get to the list, we have small group every tuesday night so that is planned fairly last minute through email with everyone based on how their week has been going. I normally do the main dish but since Kendra was born the other ladies have been doing it to give me a break. My parents come for dinner every other week and this time they brought the meal, so next time it is my turn. We eat alot of fish that is never listed because it is never guaranteed, we eat alot of fresh fruit also not listed, and all our recipes have venison burger instead of beef since that is our source until it runs out...so here goes.

Cabbage rolls, yeast rolls, salad

Shephards pie, yeast rolls, salad

Stuffed peppers, sweet onion muffins, apple pie

pizza, breadsticks, fruit

Reuben soup, rye rolls

Homemade Mac and cheese

Bacon hashbrown bake, wheat Biscuts, Salad

Garlic chicken, rolls, garlic beans

Stuffed sweet potatoes, cloud biscuts, Salad

Country fried steaks, rolls, green bean casserole, chocolate caramel bars

Sloppy Joes, chips, brownies

Enchiladas, spanish rice, corn bread

Stir fry, fried rice

Breakfasts consist of sweet breads or muffins, smoothies, fruits, juice, cereals, toast, yogurt, oatmeal/cream of wheat...all options are available each day but the required foods are one fruit, one grain, and juice.

Lunches are leftovers or sandwiches though this week I did pigs in a blanket, to switch it up a bit ;) Ok I will quit boring you all now.

Oh yeah, you've got me thinking now and I'll try to post a menu plan sometime... maybe next week :D. Haha. No, I'm seriously starting to get sick of the "EEK! What am I going to make for supper tonight?!?" dilemma :P.

Yes the soup was a recipe I did the first year we were married and it was good but I never made it again. I remembered after making it this time something that I did the last time that made it better so I will post the recipe when I get a chance tomorrow and you can try it.

Yea Sara! Oooo, I'm with Abby, we need the Reuben soup recipe here! I'm interested in the garlic beans and shepherd's pie too. Thanks for the ideas!

the garlic beans are just green beans cooked however you like (sauteed, boiled, microwaved) and then to in a small fry pan or saucepan after draining you add 3 to 6 cloves of garlic (to taste really) and a tablespoon of butter. Nothing to those really at all :) I will post the soup recipe.
